Oh the beauty of living in an open area…no smog, no traffic, absolute silence. Oh wait. What is that I hear? The frantic screams of urban dwellers looking for a sense of LIVING? Could it be? Quite possibly…
I must confess that living in a remote area took some time to adjust to–like all of two minutes. The truth is our area is not so remote. After all, we have two, maybe three, neighbors in a two mile radius, and these people are WONDERFUL! In the first few days of actually showing signs of beginning permanent residence, we were invited to a couple’s home to enjoy the air conditioning (We love you Mr. and Mrs. S!), our closest neighbor helped us (by us, I mean Jason) remove a whole buncha thingies from the existing windmill well and then came back the next day with his father to help remove the rest of the thingies. Here’s to you wonderful neighbors! Thank you for your sweat and air conditioning. We owe you many cookies!
In the midst of all this neighborly mingling, we have managed to work on the shack. (And by we, I mean we–but mostly Jason. I’ve been busy at work…in the air conditioning.) We’ve been so busy, I haven’t even taken current pictures showing siding, windows and the loft floor. Here’s the most recent image. It’s about 2 weeks behind. Blame the internet lag, or camera gods, or zombies.

Oh yeah! We have a new shade tent. We’ll see how long this one out lasts the old one.
